How about Batch Cooking, a little organization and zero waste?
Have you heard of batch cooking? It's a cooking method that involves preparing dishes in advance, for a week for example, in a single cooking session. Batch cooking requires a little organization, but saves time and money!
When you go shopping, you buy food for several meals at once, then cook the whole thing. This minimizes purchasing costs and the risk of food loss or waste. It's homemade, it's healthy and it's good for your wallet and the planet!
With batch cooking, your shopping list will contain only what you need! And if you feel like making a vegetable gratin, remember to use larger quantities of vegetables for a soup or purée on another day.
A few tips for organizing to make this moment at a moment of pleasure:
- Start by making a note of all the food in your fridge and cupboards. This way, you won't forget anything, and you'll know quickly what you're missing to concoct the perfect batch cooking menus.
- Equip yourself with storage boxes of different sizes, so that you can store all types of portions. If you prepare large quantities in advance, you need to be able to store them and prevent them from losing flavor and freshness. That's why we recommend < a href=" https://www.pyrex.fr/collections/boites-de-conservation "> hermetically sealed glass cans < /a > with plastic lids guaranteed to be Bisphenol A (BPA)-free.
- Then prepare your menus for the week, noting down the recipes that appeal to you, taking care to vary the foods as much as possible and favoring seasonal produce. If possible, assign a dish to a particular day of the week, so that you can organize the freezer storage of dishes that need it (especially fish- or meat-based dishes, which are fragile in the fridge).
- Plan a dedicated time slot for preparing the different dishes, if possible the same one every week. Put on some music and you're off for a few hours of cutting, preparing, cooking and seasoning!
- Don't hesitate to share this cooking time as a family: each member has his or her own mission, dish or food. Make it a family activity!
- Store your preparations in the best possible conditions, in the fridge or freezer. When the time comes, reheat your dishes directly in their glass containers, in the microwave or in the oven.
- Make a note of your favorite recipe ideas and how you combined them, so you can use this week's menu again in a month or a year!
With batch cooking, you can make the most of your weekday evenings. No need to think about what you're going to prepare, no need to spend too much time in the kitchen. Just heat up and enjoy!
